Dr. Jean Poirier

Dr. Jean Poirier

Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr Poirier completed is DMD degree at Montreal university in 1984 with the Canadian Armed Forces. Upon completion, he did military service, where he served with the UN in Cyprus, and after as the dentist of the Citadelle in Quebec city. He finished his residency in oral and maxillo-facial surgery at Laval University in 1995 (Enfant-Jésus Hospital). He then completed his training with a Fellowship in maxillo-facial reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital (New York) in 1997, at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami) in 1998 and finally at the Sick Children’s (Toronto) in 1999. He is a member of the Department of Surgery, ENT division, Medical faculty, University of Montreal since 1995 where he acts as assistant clinical-professor of maxillo-facial surgery. Since 1999, Dr Poirier is a faculty of AO-North-America and has lectured and chaired at numerous scientific meetings of the association. He was a member of the executive committee of the Quebec association of OMFS from 2003-2019 where he was vice-president from 2005-2013 and president (2013-2017). He was also on the executive committee of the Canadian Association of OMFS (CAOMS). Dr Poirier is presently vice-president of the Quebec Association of Dental Specialists (FDSQ). He has a private practice in Saint-Leonard (Centre Dentaire Anjou) and Vaudreuil-Dorion and operates at Maisonneuve-Rosemont and Lachine hospitals. Dr Poirier’s OMFS practice covers all fields of the specialty with a special focus on reconstructive orthognatic (Maxillo-mandibular advancement for sleep apnea and TMJ surgery).

Dr. Badri holds a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Laval University obtained in 2013. Subsequently, he continued his studies by completing a multidisciplinary residency at the University of Montreal Hospital Centers and the Sainte-Justine Hospital Center for Children. He then completed his specialized training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2020 at the Quebec University Hospital Center, including a Master's degree in dental science with a thesis focused on temporomandibular disorders. He then undertook a first year of subspecialization in reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint with Dr. Jean Poirier at the University of Montreal Hospital Center. He also completed a second year of subspecialization in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders by closed (arthroscopy) and open approach, mainly alongside Dr. Clayton Davis in Edmonton (University of Alberta), but also through an internship with Dr. McCain at MGH (Harvard University). Dr. Badri is a professor in the department of ENT and maxillofacial surgery associated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal. Finally, he is also a lecturer in the orthodontics department of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the University of Montreal.
